Large Canopies - The Large Hospital Canopy
The large canopy was built as part of a £39 million improvements scheme to provide patients with a better level of care. The canopy shelter was designed to provide cover to the disabled parking, entrance and waiting area while improving the overall look of the hospital. In this sense the shelter is multi purpose in that it provides a waiting area for relatives and friends, as well as an entrance canopy vital to the ambulance services when a patient must be unloaded at the main entrance in heavy rain.
The large shelter was fully tested in stress / strain analysis software to ensure that the legs and supports were suitable for the loading weights of the steel canopy.
The canopy is covered in 5mm thick PET covering and provides shelter from UV rays as well as being easy to clean, damage and shock resistant, fire resistant, and resistant to corrosive vandal paint removing cleaning chemicals. The ability to clean the shelters is especially useful in areas where vandalism may be a problem.
